Berlusconi was born and bred in a middle-class household after being born in Milan in 1936. His mother, Rosa Bossi (1911-2008), was a housewife, while his father, Luigi Berlusconi (1908-1989), worked in banking.

He was the first of three children; his siblings were a brother (born in 1949) and a sister (Maria Francesca Antonietta, who passed away in 2009). Ten grandkids were his.

Berlusconi studied law at the University of Milan after finishing his secondary education at a Salesian institution. He graduated in 1961 with honours and a thesis on the legal ramifications of advertising.
