Matilda is the daughter of Maria (Licci), a model, and Elliston Lutz, a fashion photographer. Her father is American and her mother is Italian.

Matilda’s paternal grandfather was Elliston Wilson Lutz (the son of Jacob Frederick Lutz and Mildred Juanita Wilson). Elliston was born in Pennsylvania. Jacob was the son of German parents, Jacob Lutz and Anna. Mildred was the daughter of William H. Wilson and Camellia/Camelia/Camilla Laughlin, who were born in Pennsylvania; she had Irish and Scottish heritage.

Matilda’s paternal grandmother was Ingrid E. Haschke (the daughter of Friedrich/Frederick/Fred August Karl Ferdinand Haschke and Ludmilla Karen Plessl). Ingrid was from Austria. Friedrich was the son of Karl August Haschke.
