Eminem Sets New UK Chart Record

It’s been a record breaking weekend for Eminem, as his tenth studio album Kamikaze debuts at No.1 in the UK album charts.

With combined chart sales of 55,000, the American rapper breaks the record for having the most consecutive No. 1 albums in the UK, beating a record previously held for 36 years by both Abba and Led Zeppelin.

Speaking to the OfficalCharts.com following the announcement of his record breaking release, the ’Stan’ rapper asked “does this mean I get to call myself Sir Eminem?”

Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company, praised the Real Slim Shady in a statement saying “many congratulations to Eminem.”

“To release nine successful albums is an achievement in itself, but to reach the UK’s Official Albums Chart summit with each of them, consecutively, without a break, across 18 years, is quite remarkable.”

Kamikaze is the fourth-fastest selling album this year in the UK, behind Arctic Monkeys, Drake and George Ezra, and outsold this weeks No.2 album, the soundtrack to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, by three copies to one.

Kamikaze, a surprise release last week and Eminem’s second album in less than a year, features the single ‘The Ringer’, which attacks American President Donald Trump, describing him as an ‘evil serpent’.

“I empathise with the people, this evil serpent sold the dream to that he’s deserted.”
